What A Week

What an emotional week it has been. First of all my baby brother Kolton came home from his mission. I can't believe it's already been two years. . My whole family was there to pick him up. It has been years since we have all been together. It was so good to see him again and to see how much he has changed.

This is the only picture I took of him. He looks so good, and he has changed a lot. After we picked up Kolton we all went to dinner (can't remember where) Then Wain and I headed down to Kanab with my parents to celebrate and remember my grandma Perkins who passed away on Sunday. After being in the hospital for three weeks my dad and his brother decided it was time to let their mother go. Her mind was still there but her body just wanted to return to her husband that has been waiting for her for 15 years.
Here is my grandmas Obituary:
Lucille was born in Kanab, UT on January 29, 1924, to Israel and Ella Chamberlain. She passed away in the Kane County Hospital after a short illness.
Lucille returned to live with her Heavenly Father and her loving husband. She was known to her great-grandchildren as Grandma Grape. They were the joy of her life.
She spent her childhood roaming the hills of Kanab and graduated from Kanab High School. After high school she moved to Salt Lake City to work and further her education. She moved back to Kanab, where she met Clarence Garn Perkins. They were married on September 3, 1947, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had two children, Keith and Dilworth. She worked at Zion’s bank until her retirement.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in several church callings throughout her life. She also worked at the family history center for many years. She and Garn served a LDS mission in London, England. When they returned they were called to serve as ordinance workers in the St. George Temple. Her last calling was as compassionate service leader.
She is survived by her two sons, Keith (Anita) Perkins and Dilworth (Harriett) Perkins, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Hoyt and Ralph Chamberlain; and her sister, Harriet Jones.

The funeral was WONDERFUL. My grandma was a very soft spoken person, she didn't talk about her life unless you asked her. I had the privilege of helping put her temple clothes. I didn't think I would cry but when I saw her, the tears came. My grandma will be missed. We were able to go through her house while we were there. I learned so much more about my grandma and the person that she was. During Christmas she told me that when she dies that I would get her wedding ring. It is a beautiful ring but her fingers are so small. I'm not sure what I am going to do with it. I was able to also get some jewelry that she had. I loved going through my grandmas house and discovering a women that I didn't know much about.

We were all so tired after the funeral that my dad needed his teddy bear.

My mom is the best grandma EVER. I have never seen a women that loves so many little people so much. She would do anything for them. My nieces and nephews when they are in trouble they call for my grandma. I hope that our future children will be able to have the same privileges as my nieces and nephews to be able to know their grandmother.

We are back up north and are trying to plan everything for our big move. We keep picking different dates to move. I told Nuskin my last day was March 15th but we feel that I should move sooner than that. We just have mixed feelings about being away from each other for two months. I'm trying to get a job with an airline so we shall see. Everything will work out, and we just have to trust the Lord that he has a path for our lives and He knows what is best for our future.

  1. Glad you got some time with your family. :) I'm sorry for your loss, though. She sounds like a wonderful woman, and I'm always happy to hear that couples are now together again.

I hope things settle in for your move to AZ soon! What an exciting adventure you've got coming up. :)
